From Trauma

a clinic of the social bond and the unsettling alterity

Abstract

In the context of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Chilean Civil Military Coup (1973-1989) and the consequences of state terrorism implemented in that period, a question is asked about the reparation of that violence, its subjective and political-cultural conditions. From these elements, the text develops four fundamental elements from a psychoanalytical perspective. The first addresses the political and cultural conditions necessary for clinical work with survivors of state violence. The second deals with the specificity of the clinic of extreme traumatism and the transmission of trauma between generations. The third explores the question of possible reparation from two clinical vignettes (one from the first and the other from the second generation). Finally, in the difference between the clinics of the ghost and of the repressed unconscious, it tries to raise the logical times since the clinic of the traumatic is articulated with the clinic of the ghost.
