The power of a book is measured by the quality of its encounter with its readers. Do grito à palavra, originally published in 1995, left an indelible mark on the access to Sándor Ferenczi’s work in Brazil, and its new edition is a welcome return. Its author, Teresa Pinheiro, was a pioneer in the study of Ferenczi’s work, and her generosity, competence, and theoretical-clinical acuity, the fundamental threads that sustain the spirit of this work, continue to inspire her readers to seek the essence of this great psychoanalyst’s ideas. The book’s structure includes contributions to the fundamental concepts of Ferenczi’s work, his original theory of trauma, considerations on traumatogenesis, as well as his innovative contributions to psychoanalytic technique. Reading this second edition will allow both longtime readers and those reading it for the first time to acknowledge the strength and relevance of Teresa Pinheiro’s writing on one of the most brilliant psychoanalysts, who continues to inspire new paths for psychoanalysis to remain open to interrogation of the complexity of the human.
