Abstract

Acknowledging Silvia Bleichmar’s immeasurable legacy as starting point, the present work explores psychoanalysis in relation to the ethical, political and social dimensions, based on propositions from Bleichmar’s work. Through the aforementioned dimensions, we consider it possible to illustrate the clear impossibility of separating someone from the conditions in which one practices one’s profession, according to Bleichmar. In every line she wrote, we can find her coherent position as a subject, as a citizen, and as a psychoanalyst. Therefore, inspired by Bleichmar’s remarkably inquiring and non-dogmatic model of psychoanalytic transmission, we consider that practicing psychoanalysis is acknowledging the value of revising the foundations and outcomes of psychoanalytic theory, in the paths and intercurrences of both clinic and culture. In sum, we have attempted to select key points in Silvia Bleichmar’s work, in order to highlight the depth, originality and complexity of her thought in the present work.
